Tiel Way Residence Location & Year: Houston, TX - 2000 Size: The original house was designed and built in 1950. In 1989 the current owners bought the residence, after its having been vacant for seventeen years. In addition to it’s lacking an updated kitchen, and consisting of many small rooms, it was in complete disrepair. The original remodel/addition updated the existing kitchen, relocated the front entrance, created larger rooms by removing several interior walls, and added a second story loft to the existing guest house. This “out building” became the primary bedroom. “Phase II’ will add two bedrooms and baths and connect the two existing structures, since the owner’s family has grown. As the site is unique, the owner wants to take advantage of the wooded area, without destroying the nature of the site. Introducing natural light, and retaining privacy is a driving concern.
